THE OATH OF A KNIGHT
(Also Known As A Knight's Prayer)

Almighty God, Eternal Father, Lord of Lords, have mercy upon me, a humble knight in Thy Divine Service. O Lord, I pray for Thy indulgence and blessings.

Forget not Thine servant in his trials, nor his Order of Knighthood. I pray, that Thy Will be done in all things, both great and small. Let me always be worthy of Thee, let me not forget Thee in good times or bad.

Armor me with the armor of Thy Righteousness, give me the sword of Truth that I shall confound Thine enemies and be unto Thee a true knight.

O Lord, in my hour of need, be with me. Let me never forget my sacred and holy vows unto Thee, that I should not be prey unto demons and devils nor the dark things of this world.

Let me always be a beacon unto those in distress, never allow me to forget my obligation unto the homeless nor the poor: let me serve Thee and Thine Eternal Throne all the days of my life. Let me always remember the obligations that I have taken upon me.

Lord, if it is Thine Will, let me serve Thee forever!

If ever, oh Lord, I turn from Thee in this Order, let my name forever be cursed, may my spurs be broken and my body given unto demons to dwell with them forever in that Lake of Fire which Thou hast prepared for the ungodly.

Power beyond Power, Pillar of Strength, Refuge of the Homeless, let me serve Thee for all the days of my life! Amen.

The above words were part of an oral history of the Crusades compiled in 1200 A.D. and were spoken by a Knight Hospitaller moments before a battle against Moslem forces.

MORE MOTTOS TO REMEMBER...

When we look around the word today we see turbulent times.

Sadly many others believe more in their mission than many Christians do.

We see many in the middle east who will give their all for what they believe. They will gladly sacrifice their lives for the cause. Here in our own country many will spend a lifetime trying to get laws changed to have rights for those in the gay community.

Other misguided people spend a life time bashing the church or attacking Jewish people. Others want to rule by intimidation or violence to those that have different opinions. Some want to call on the powers of darkness or use their political office for their own gains.

So many today have such a passion and dedication fore their cause that it puts many a believer to shame. For we know the truth, we know the way, we have God rooting for us, we have a mission and sadly many do nothing and if they do, its all about self instead of God. When will we realize our life must be about Him and not self?

Here is a few mottos from a variety of different groups; a few codes of conduct or quotes from different people. I believe it is vital that we must start to make our day-to-day language compliment and re-enforce our mission.

U.S. Central Intelligence Agency Motto — "The truth shall set you free. "

General George C. Marshall — ‘There is no limit to the good you can do if you don't care who gets the credit’.

SEAL Team Six Officer — "We want to be in a situation under maximum pressure, maximum intensity, and maximum danger. When it's shared with others, it provides a bond which is stronger than any tie that can exist. "

US Navy SEALs — "There is no "I" in TEAM. "

USAF Pararescue — "These things we do that others may live. "

US Army Special Forces — "To free the oppressed. "

The Military Police Creed — "I am always ready to help individual soldiers retain or regain their dignity"

1st Infantry division World War II — "no mission to difficult, no sacrifice too great. Duty first."

143rd Armoured Field Battalion— "action not words". Us Marines— "Always faithful".

French Foreign Legion Code of Honour — "A mission once given to you becomes sacred to you. You will accomplish it to the end at all costs. You will never abandon neither your wounded or your dead. "

If the world can have such high ideals, how dare we think we can be excused when we will not risk all for the

King on kings and Lord of lords?

At least that's the way I see it.
